Hammond – Hammond-based Korellis has announced two new staff appointments. Meredith Moran-Pruim has been named as the company’s new Assistant Service Manager and Liz Holmes has been welcomed as a new safety coordinator.
Meredith Moran-Pruim has been employed at Korellis since 2018. She assisted every department while in her first role as Office Administrator. An interest in safety led her to helping with compliance for numerous project sites, certifications, and training, and working with Safety Manager Joel Barnes to develop and enforce policy. Two years later, she added on a second role as Service Coordinator. Her main responsibilities included delivering exceptional customer service, reviewing work orders, and invoicing.
As Korellis continued to grow, the need for a full-time person in both departments became apparent. Moran-Pruim chose to commit 100% of her time to the Service Department, alongside Service Manager Karen Knezic. As the new Assistant Service Manager, Moran-Pruim’s goal is to continue raising the department to the next level. Together they oversee a team of twenty lead service technicians and helpers, which is one of the largest roofing repair fleets in Chicagoland.
Moran-Pruim is heavily involved with Korellis’ community impact initiatives through her role as Chair for the ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) Communications Committee. Under her leadership, the organization has participated in events with Food Bank of NWI, stocked items in Franciscan Alliance’s Fresh Start Market, collected food, supplies, and baked goods for Greater Hammond Services’ Food Pantry, Haven House NWI, and the Hammond Police Department, respectively, plus many more. She is also a member of National Women in Roofing, an organization that supports and advances the careers of women roofing professionals through networking, mentoring, and education.
With a vacancy in safety, Korellis welcomes Safety Coordinator Liz Holmes. Holmes previously worked in industrial safety and looks forward to bringing that experience and knowledge to Korellis.
Holmes joins Barnes as a part of Korellis’ comprehensive safety program. Safety is practiced through ongoing training, weekly toolbox talks, monthly safety meetings, and their annual Safety Fest. Korellis recently became INSHARP certified – one of only 49 companies in the state to receive the honor for exemplary safety and health management systems. The company is working towards its VPP (Voluntary Protection Program) accreditation through OSHA.
Though the percentage of women in construction is low (most national averages show only about 10% of the industry is female), Korellis has women in all departments of the office, as well as in the yard and field. Knezic, along with Controller Haley Sparling, are the first women to have held these positions in the organization. Vice President of Operations, Juli Tattersall, was the first female Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager, as well as the first female executive on Senior Management in the company’s history.
